Chadbourn UMC offers a wonderful teddy bear ministry. Teddy bears are provided to the Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville NC from the church. Each new patient in the hospice facility receives a teddy bear upon arrival. The bears are dedicated on the last Sunday of each month. The entire membership comes forward and hugs the bears, followed by a dedication prayer. On many occasions, our bears have provided comfort during one’s passing from this life to the next. They are a gift of love from the good people of Chadbourn UMC. The Teddy Bear Ministry is in memory of Rev. Pat Inman.

Chadbourn UMC has started a new mission along with Hallsboro United Methodist Church to help our local schools ensure that students have clean, well maintained clothes to wear. Connecting the church to the local elementary schools will allow us to support our community and give students the self-confidence they need to focus on their education. The mission is made possible by The Duke Endowment Rural Church Grant and cooperation of Columbus County Schools. We look forward to serving our community through this exciting new mission.

Chadbourn UMC has an active women’s organization called United Women in Faith. The first weekend of each May, thousands of people descend on Chadbourn for the Strawberry Festival. The Strawberry Festival is the oldest continuing agricultural festival in North Carolina.  Chadbourn UMC has long been a supporter of the festival which features a car show, auction, parade, games and contest and other family fun activities.
